Mosquito Control

In2Care Mosquito Trap: This is a mosquito control product that uses the mosquito itself to kill other mosquitoes in the neighborhood.
*Please Note* This is a long term solution for mosquito control and not a quick fix.

The In2Care Mosquito Trap is made of durable plastic and uses water with an odor lure to attract egg-laying Aedes mosquitoes. Once inside, mosquitoes contact the specially treated gauze near the water surface and get contaminated with a larvicide and a fungus. We exploit the fact that the Aedes like to divide their eggs over multiple sites; by letting them fly out of the trap whilst carrying larvicide on their legs. They transport the larvicide and contaminate several breeding sites around the trap. In this way, we can kill larvae in small and hard to find breeding sources. The mosquito also gets infected with an insect-specific fungus that kills her before she can spread disease.

What you can do:

  • Inspect your roof for leaks and watch for leaking outdoor faucets and air conditioning units. Repair any leaks to eliminate the possibility of standing water.

  • Throw away or store any items that can accumulate standing water.

  • Watch for standing water in flower pots, bird baths and old tires.

  • Clean gutters frequently. Debris can clog and obstruct water flow from your roof, causing gutters to fill up with standing water.

  • Note that children's toys, plastic wading pools, and playground equipment with small crevices are areas where water can collect.

  • An idle car, landscape statues, garden hoses, full plastic garbage bags that have developed small pockets are more places mosquitoes can breed.

  • Clean your swimming pool regularly and keep it chlorinated. Pool covers, which can also collect water and debris, should be cleaned as well.

  • Neighborhood residents should work together to eliminate breeding sites like abandoned cars, old machinery, and other junk in vacant lots.

Use fans for outdoor gatherings!
Use patio ceiling fans for outdoor gatherings and plug in fans. With plug-in fans, you can keep the flow of air directed at the lower half of your body. Mosquitoes tend to fly very close to the ground to avoid wind, so directing the fan's force downward will block their approach
